BACK TO REALITY

So the last days in DR went by way too fast. I soaked in all the sun I possibly could and took nice swims in the sea. Can you believe I was taking a morning swim and lay on the beach on Wednesday and now I'm back in Utica and battling approximately -17 degrees. Big jump in degrees there compared to about +30… Not mad at all. I started to actually get pretty okay with going back because traveling that much is no vacation if you thought that. Well, the last 12 days was as close to vaycay as I could come, but before that it was all traveller mode on and that ain't easy every time. I'm probs going to do a post on stuff I realized during my travels, because there was lots of shit going through my head. I don't know if that's part of finding yourself or soul searching or whatever, but it was relieving and even rewarding some times.

Classes started on Thursday and I'm actually pretty excited about most of them. I'm taking Publication Design, which is mostly graphic design and learning InDesign, then Digital Photography/Advanced News Photography, where we learn about Photoshop and taking pictures that tell stories. Also I have Public Relation Cases, where we go through various cases in PR, Social Media, in which I haven't had a class yet and then PR Writing, which seems a bit boring, but it's probably very rewarding in the end in terms of learning to be a better writer. Plus gym classes in volleyball, yoga and aquatics maybe and later on tennis and golf. It's going to be a packed semester and it will go by so fast, but hopefully it will be awesome!

Tonight we're going to cheer for our hockey guys and then out later on :)

So people keep telling me today I look different somehow and ask whether I've dyed my hair or something. The answer is no. I'm just more fabulous today, than I was yesterday (if that's even possible??) ;) Anyway I'm wearing a new top from Anthropologie, which is a lovely French-y chain store I discovered in Boston. A bit more expensive, but they had lovely stuff there and I bought this top and a bra on sale so it wasn't that bad!

I also "needed" to buy eyeshadow since I didn't bring any with me to the states. Don't know why really? In the end after going back and forth between Urban Decay, BareMinerals and Too Faced I decided to buy the Urban Decay Naked palette. It just happened to have everything I needed in one; all the brownish natural shades and the darker ones for smokey eyes. I tested some of the brown and golden ones today and I'm in love for real. The pigment is good and the color really sticks on your eye lids for the whole day, compared to for example some H&M shadows (well, obviously). Cost me $52 so about 38e. Not too bad at all!

To prove I love shopping waaaaay too much I also came home with some new boobs (bras). That I really needed since my old ones are embarrassingly old already and doesn't really serve their purpose anymore. But oh my how these Victoria's Secret bras changed my life (and my boobs). So nice to have new ones. They had a good deal too, buy one and and get another for 50% off so I ended up paying like $76, which is about 56e.

Instead of studying, I'm boots dreaming now that fall is really here. I just love Steve Madden so the most of the boots are from there, some are Aldo's which has the perfect size for my foot and one pair is from Zara. You can't have 'em all I guess!

A post about random everything

I bought a new cute skirt a couple of days ago. The perfect birthday gift for myself. Now the weather is changing though, the last couple of weeks we've had nearly 30 degrees Celcius every day, and now it's something under 20 degrees. Cold if you ask me. I will still try to wear skirts and shorts with bare legs as long as I can. It's in the middle of the night here, I still have some reading to do, but I think reading inspirational quotes and listening to Coeur de Pirate (French-Canadian singer) and Band Of Horses is much more fun. I'm trying to come up with a good blog topic for a blog and an online-portfolio we're doing in one of the courses I'm in. Can't think of anything at the moment. I bought a domain already though. I miss Paris and all the craziness we came up with every day after work. But of course it was summer then, and summers are always a tad crazier. Here we mostly just chill and hang out. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but sometimes I get bored. I could have gone out today, but all the homework and reading is killing me. I have some good study buddies though, that make me concentrate more on school for some reason. We are so unlikely to be the ones sitting and studying together that I laugh at the thought every time. Hopefully this weekend will be fun. I need that.

Jag har blivit riktigt sugen på en snygg och cool keps sen jag var till Sverige. Var jättenära på att köpa en från Stadium, men gjorde inte det och nu ångrar jag mig. Var inne på Stadium några dagar sedan och kollade om jag skulle ha hittat den eller en annan jag kollade på, men de var slutsålda tror jag. Buu! I Finland ser man inte kepsar på tjejer så ofta, men då jag gjort det har det varit riktigt coolt. I Sverige såg man dem på var och varannan tjej och nu har jag blivit lite obsessed.... Som ni ser går de flesta i ganska samma färgskala och lagen kommer från endera NY eller LA. Inte för att jag hejar på någotdera lag, men deras kepsar var coolast. Jag gillar mest de två första, men egentligen vilken som av dessa skulle duga. Det var den första jag i alla fall blev helt förtjust i då jag provade den. DIY DIP DYE DRESS

Jag fick för mig att prova på att dip dye:a en klänning jag haft i några år nu. Är trött på klänningen, även om jag tycker den är fin, men jag tyckte att den behövde en uppdatering. Jag provade på att för första gången färga kläder (förutom min första halare år 2011), och var lite nervös över hur jag skulle få en snygg övergång mellan det vita och den marinblåa färgen av Dylon som jag köpte på Anttila. Jag löste problemet med att spänna ett hårband runt klänningen där jag ungefär ville att färgen skulle börja suddas ut. Till slut blev linjen lite högre upp än planerat då jag råkade fläcka klänningen lite högre upp.

EN: I got this idea that I wanted to try to dip dye one of my dresses I've had for a couple of years that I've grown tired of. I think it's pretty, but I definitely thought it needed an update. I tried for the first time to color clothes on my own and was pretty nervous about how I would get a nice transition between the white and the navy blue color by Dylon that I bought in Anttila (Finnish department store). I solved the problem by tieing a hairband where I wanted the transition to be so it wouldn't be too even. In the end the line got a bit higher up than I first planned, when I accidentally managed to stain some places higher up.

Till färgningen behövs vatten, själva färgen i valfri färg, salt, plasthandskar, en stor skål, något att blanda om med och helst en trasa så du kan tvätta bort färg som flyger runt badrummet (gjorde det mycket för mig).

EN: For the dying you'll need water, the color in any color you want, salt, plastic gloves, a big bowl, something to mix with and also a cloth to clean up color stains that will maybe fly around your bathroom (for me it did lots).

Inte helt perfekt, men tillräckligt nära vad jag hade tänkt mig så jag är nöjd. Dessutom var det ju första gången jag försökte på något sånt här så då behöver det kanske inte bli helt hundra procent heller. Dessutom färgade jag också en vit tubtopp till marinblå istället då den var lite smutsig från förut så nu har jag en ny topp också. Hehe. Köpa nya kläder? Njaeh. Uppdatera dina gamla istället! Kul var det!

EN: Not totally perfect, but so close to what I had in my thoughts that I'm happy. To be fair it was my first time trying something like this so it doesn't have to be a hundred per cent anyways. I also dyed a white top to navy blue instead, because it was a bit dirty from before so now I have a new top too. Hehe. Buy new clothes? Naaah. Just update your old ones instead! It was fun!

På fredagen var vi ju i Stockholm under hamnpausen och såklart hann jag och Malin gå igenom butiker. Jag hittade äntligen, jag menar ÄNTLIGEN, ett par jeansshorts som jag kan tänka mig gå i flera år och som passar min kroppstyp. Isch, sånt jobb det har varit. Även om de var lite av de dyrare laget från Weekday (Cheap Monday), tror jag helt klart de kan bli mina går-med-allt-och-alltid shorts (bara mina hips inte bestämmer sig för att bli mindre förstås). Jag köpte också min första peplumtopp (jag vet seeeent ute). Tycker bara mina tidigarenämnda hips blir så jäääkla stora med denna modell, men now I gave in och köpte en randig sådan från Bik Bok. Och några bastoppar från H&M och en bralet från Monki. Härligheterna:

EN: On Friday we were in Stockholm during the paus from work and of course me and Malin had the time to raid some stores. I finally, I mean FINALLY, found a pair of jeans shorts that I could think to wear for years and that suits my body type. Even though they were a bit more expensive from Weekday (Cheap Monday), I think these could be my all-around-everyday shorts (counting on that my hips won't magically shrink). I also bought my first peplum top (I knooooow, I'm really late). I just don't think they fit my body type and makes my hips look humoungous, but now I gave in and bought a striped one from Bik Bok. And some basic tops from H&M and a bralet from Monki.

Denna fina (och billiga) tunika från H&M fick åka på igår. Köpte den i helgen då jag och T var och kollade runt i butiker. Farligt och släppa mig dit för sparkontot töms hastigt då. Även om jag är all for very-cheap-budget-shopping just nu om jag måste sätta sprätt på pengar på kläder. Vilket jag inte borde alls och kommer nog inte shoppa så mycket mer heller, även om shorts och ett par ballerinas borde inhandlas, men hittar aldrig "de rätta". Får väl gå med rumpan bar i sommar, men det vill ni nog inte vara med om! ;D

Nej, nu ska jag iväg till närtåget in till Helsingfors och hitta min väg till USA:s konsulat för visumintervju. Önska mig lycka till!

EN: I found this pretty (and cheap) tunic in H&M and wore it yesterday with very warm tights. I bought it last weekend when me and T were out and about in the stores. Dangerous to let me go there, because my savings account will be very much empty soon with this pace. Even though I'm all for very-cheap-budget-shopping if I really have to put money on clothes at the moment. Which I shouldn't at all at this point, but at least I need a pair of shorts and flats for the summer but I just don't seem to find the "right ones". I'll have to walk around naked then, but that's something you don't wanna see! ;D

Well, now I need to catch the local train into Helsinki and find my way to the US consulate for the visa interview. Wish me luck!

Tisdagens alltför varma outfit, men söt ändå. Hittade fejk-läderkjolen på second-hand (Olga-Neiti) för billigt och den är ju så söt så kunde inte motstå.

FOR SALE IN IHANA KIRPPIS

Idag pynjade och pysslade jag på mitt loppisbord på nya Ihana Kirppis med hjälp av Maria den största delen av tiden. Och tack för bärhjälpen, pjuuuh. Flera timmar tog det, men var nöjd till slut att jag äntligen fick detta gjort och det var ju lite som att leka butik som Åsa sa. 4 ikea-kassar med kläder (många klänningar), skor, väskor, smycken och sånt åkte dit. Storlekarna är allt från XS-L och skorna 37-38. Priser satte jag allt från 0,20 cent till 15 € så mycket fynd kan man hitta där! Skönt att ha en lite luftigare garderob nu också!

Jag gillade loppiset förresten, precis vad Åbo centrum var i behov av tycker jag. Finns nämligen inte ett självbetjäningsloppis i centrum vad jag vet om och lokalen var fräsch och mysig och allt var så fint uppsatt. Pricken på I var att de också har ett café i samband med loppiset så efter att man fyndat kan man sätta sig ner på den soliga terrassen och ta sig en kopp te. 

Bordet har jag där t.o.m. söndagen den 2.6 (till kl.15ish) och bordsnumret är 27 om någon vill kolla in loppiset på Kaskisgatan 3 (mitt uppe på backen).

FI: Elikkä suomeksikin voisin ilmoittaa että tänään sain vihdoinkin kirpparipöydän laitettua ja tällä kertaa uusi Ihana Kirppis Kaskenkadulla sai huomioni. Paikka oli todella siisti, mukava ja siellä on kaikki niin hienosti aseteltu paikoilleen. Vein sinne 4 ikea-kassillista vaatteita (tosi paljon mekkoja), kenkiä, korkkareita, laukkuja, koruja ja yms. Koot ovat XS-L välillä, kengät/korkkarit 37-38 ja hinnat ovat 0,20 sentin ja 15 euron väliltä. Eli sinne tekemään löytöjä!! Piste I:in päällä oli vielä että kirpparin yhteydessä heillä on kahvila, eli siellä voi löytöshoppailun jälkeen istua alas aurinkoiselle terrassille juomaan vaikka teetä.

Minulla on pöytä numero 27 ihan kassan vierestä ja siellä tavarani pysyy ihan sunnuntaihin 2.6 (klo. 15ish) asti.
