So people keep telling me today I look different somehow and ask whether I've dyed my hair or something. The answer is no. I'm just more fabulous today, than I was yesterday (if that's even possible??) ;) Anyway I'm wearing a new top from Anthropologie, which is a lovely French-y chain store I discovered in Boston. A bit more expensive, but they had lovely stuff there and I bought this top and a bra on sale so it wasn't that bad!

I also "needed" to buy eyeshadow since I didn't bring any with me to the states. Don't know why really? In the end after going back and forth between Urban Decay, BareMinerals and Too Faced I decided to buy the Urban Decay Naked palette. It just happened to have everything I needed in one; all the brownish natural shades and the darker ones for smokey eyes. I tested some of the brown and golden ones today and I'm in love for real. The pigment is good and the color really sticks on your eye lids for the whole day, compared to for example some H&M shadows (well, obviously). Cost me $52 so about 38e. Not too bad at all!

To prove I love shopping waaaaay too much I also came home with some new boobs (bras). That I really needed since my old ones are embarrassingly old already and doesn't really serve their purpose anymore. But oh my how these Victoria's Secret bras changed my life (and my boobs). So nice to have new ones. They had a good deal too, buy one and and get another for 50% off so I ended up paying like $76, which is about 56e.

HOCKEY GAME & HALLOWEEN THE SECOND TIME AROUND

I've been so busy this last week. Oh my. I thought about blogging, but I've been either too busy or too tired to do it. Last weekend we went to the UC Pioneers hockey game and it was so good! We won 5-2 so that was worth celebrating! Me, Anna, Gaby and Matty went to a bar on Varick Street (bar street practically). It was so cosy and they had an awesome band playing there too, Annie in the Water. They played some cover songs and some original ones. Oh, and I forgot to tell you that us four were  almost the only ones dressed up for Halloween during the game and also in the bar, before a couple 40+ lady witches/wizards showed up. We tricked people in to believing Finns always dress up in crazy costumes for hockey. I don't know if that was smart or not, haha. People will really believe anything, since they don't know shit about Finland. Usually the response you get when people ask where I am from is "Cool". Just because they have no idea where that is or what it is. Okay, so a little bit off topic here.

Before a game begins the National Anthem is sung and everyone faces the American flag. Okay, and now you only see the Canadian one, but I promise you there is an American one in the other corner. This is a very patriotic country!

During goals this awfully loud sound/noise came on while the screens flashed the word "GOAL".

After that bar we went to Blu, which has become our place to go to I guess. On the way the most amazing thing happened! After saying hello to "Rainbow", who I think is a homeless man who sings terribly and entertains drunken people on the street, I found money on the street. You know where this is going... Or not. I was way too excited to have found $50 dollars (instead of $5 that I thought at first) on the street to give it to him and bought my friends drinks instead. Next time, I promise to give him some dollars though. Must seem like I'm the worst person ever, but well I wouldn't have written that down if I wouldn't actually think about him. There were lots of people in the bar, and very many in just underwear, believe me, that's what Halloween is in America apparently. Mean Girls really didn't lie when Cady said that "Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it". Well, I guess twerking and slutty Halloween costumes are the thing here… What matters more though, is that we had one of the funniest, if not THE funniest, night since coming here. Oh my, I can entertain people and that was just part of it. Thank you all! :)

Since Saturday night there hasn't been anything special going on. I've been trying to meet all the deadlines that I have to get done before Thursday, but it just seems impossible. I wills till try though and hope for the best. There's a stomach flu going around here btw and I'm not too keen on getting it before the weekend, so let's use lots of anti-bacterial hand cleanser. Ah, yeah. This is the weekend we go to Canada!! Whoop whoop!

HALLOWEEN INSPIRATION

Halloween is coming up and I'm very eager to figure out what my this years costume will be. Last year I was Alice in Zombieland and I enjoyed it very much. I'm leaning towards a voodoo doll and sugar skull combination. I will probably look like Cady in Mean Girls among all the slutty girls. So to say, I'm excited to see what the American Halloween has to offer. Here's some inspirational pictures I pinned on my Pinterest board. What are you thinking for Halloween?

Voodoo Doll dress found here. Unfortunately, it's sold out on that site, but I'm thinking about doing a DIY dress. The rest of the pictures are from Pinterest.

I'm truly in love with this skirt and my dark hair now that I've gotten used to it.

Best regards,

Hair project #153637

I got so tired of my blondish hair that I needed a change. The change became much bigger than I expected. My hair is almost black now (really dark brown). Haha. Luckily the color will fade in a week or so and I probably have to dye it again then so I won't have gray hair instead. Well I like it though and my friends here have said it looks nice too, so I just have to believe them. Have a sunday funday today! xoxo

Oh and by the way, I love my zebra top from Charlotte Rousse!

DIY PASTEL PINK HAIR - TRY 1

EN: Yesterday I had a grooming day. Or mostly it contained of doing my hair. My sister came here and we started to dye half of my hair blonde and we managed to get a nice ombré as a result that melted into my "before" hair. We used L'Oréals Féria Wild Ombrés color. Now afterwards I would recommend to use a stronger bleach if you have even some darker parts in your hair as I did for a stronger effect.

My hair before we did anything to it:

EN: It bleached pretty good and the hair got lighter. As a result I got a nice ombré and a bit drier ends. In the second picture you see the difference between the blonde and the brown hair (we weren't that careful with the hair underneath because it doesn't show most of the time anyway). The hair after the bleach:

EN: After the bleaching we put in L'Oréals PASTEL Soft Rose toning conditioner i  the hair and let it work for a bit longer than adviced (15 mins.), about 20-25 minutes. The product had a cute pink color and smelled like candy.

EN: So here's the result of the color. It was very hard to get it on picture since it's so fair and the color really didn't want to stick to some parts of my hair. Mostly the ends had a more visible result and towards a colored shirt it was more visible. I wasn't a hundred percent entirely happy with the result since I wanted it to be more visible. I could though think of using this toner as an everyday refreshner since it isn't that visible and it's pretty neutral.

EN: Well, we (read: me) didn't settle for this result, so we went down to Cybershop to buy Crazy Colors Candy Floss instead which is supposed to be stronger in the color than the L'Oréal one, and also cheaper (7,90€). On the can it's adviced to let it work for about 30 minutes, but the girl at the counter told me it's worth having it in for about an hour to get more visible results. So a little bit of a longer process than anticipated. First we put the color in the ends and let it be for about 15 minutes and then we put in the color in the rest of the ombré and let it be for one hour.

EN: The result was a more visible color, but it's shifts more in a peach nyance in the lenghts than in pink. The pictures are not taken in daylight so the result could be another when in sunlight.

Så. Är jag nöjd med resultatet? Njae. Ciao!

EN: So. Am I satisfied with the result? Naah. It was fun to test, but I would have wanted a biiiiit more visible results. So my next step is to see how this works on me and the decide if I want to bleach further (and destroy my poor hair) and get a more pink result, or if I simply go and buy a shock pink color and hope it sticks. Another thing to consider is that my hair is very slippery and smooth so almost nothing will stick to it when I have washed it recently or within a 1-2 days. And also I had the other conditioner in the hair and some hair oil so that could be another reason the candy floss didn't stick that good. I will try again someday when I have time though. I think it was worth the effort because it was pretty fun to test and also I got a bit fairer hair for summer and a nice ombré. Ciao!

PASTEL HAIR

Ciao!

The Big Bun Theory

I love buns, even though I don't do them that often. I should start now though! On this picture I love the twists of the bow and bohemian braid buns. So cute!

Sparkles & White

EN: I just came home from a powerwalk/semi-run and thought I would show you my nails. Yesterday I finally had the energy to do them a little fancier than in months. I found this glittery one in H&M while I was returning some dresses I bought on Saturday. I just have silver and gold glitter at the moment so I thought it would be fun to have something more springy/summery too. I'm also happy to see that white nailpolish seems to be hip again, since I think it's soooo nice! For today's nails I made just one of the nails white though, but you will probably see me in whole white in the near future. These are probably going to be my vappu (Labour Day) nails too since glitter and white is just right then.

Style & Beauty by Lauren Conrad

EN: I ordered some books a couple of weeks ago and these two must-haves for any woman is now a part of my book shelf. I've so far just browsed through them, but I like what I've seen and read so far. I started reading Style today and LC really knows what she's talking about! Style is more about finding the key pieces, clothes and building a stylish wardrobe, whereas Beauty is more about make-up and hair. I've waited for so long and now I finally have these two style bibles at hand.

Lauren Conrad has long been one of my favourite style icons and I watched The Hills mostly because of her style (and yeah, maybe a bit for the drama too...), but stopped watching when she quit. Her style never fails and she manages to look so classically beautiful in whatever she puts on so be it day or night. And her hair is to die for! Also check out The Beauty Department if you haven't already.

Only know you love her when you let her go

Style Steal: Blair Waldorf

Inspon.

EN: So this is what my Blair Waldorf style steal outfit looked like for the USA-themed party, that by the way was really successful! On me I had a light yellow lace dress from Club L, a red belt with navy blue detail from Forever21, a red blazer from Pull & Bear, a black headbland from Glitter maybe, brown wedge heels from ZARA (couldn't bother to walk in pumps), a red handbag bought from somewhere on Mallorca in 2009, Majorica pearls (one of them) and a bracelet I got as a gift from India. All this I found in my wardrobe which was just perfect! I kept the make-up light and clean and curled my hair in layers so it would have a more smooth finish than normally when I curl my hair into a mess of curls. You like? (I realized that I've just bought the headband and the dress from Finland, so apparently I do shop some abroad...). The inspo.

I'm seriously thinking about walking around this girly and preppy all the time. I quite frankly liked the outfit I put together, even though I at first thought it was a bit crazy and very very colorful.
