Wasting My Young Years

Two of the most beautiful songs right now.

"You crossed this line
Do you find it hard to sit with me tonight?
I've walked these miles but I've walked 'em straight lined
You'll never know what was like to be fine
I'm wasting my young years
It doesn't matter
I'm chasing old ideas
It doesn't matter"

Hannah Reid in the group London Grammar has just an amazing voice and I love their songs. Her voice is like a mix of Florence Welch (Florence and the Machine) and Lana Del Rey. Perfection.

Alex and Sierra

I've been following X Factor USA sporadically this year, and only mostly because Alex and Sierra caught my attention already in their audition. These two, a couple, have such a chemistry, sexiness and realness about them, that it's hard not to like them. They are so talented and perfect each other.

Therefore I am so happy they won this year (the finals were a couple of days ago) and I can't wait to hear more from them. They will be superstars and they really deserve it. Congratulations!

To get what I am talking about watch at least these clips:

Say Something by A Great Big World
(My favorite performance by them. And probably the best I've ever heard on X Factor and such)

Let her go by Passenger (at 1:30)

Gravity by Sara Bareilles (at 0:50)

Little Talks by Monsters Of Men (at 2:50)

we were nothing like the rest

Another music obsession I have at the moment is for Of Monsters and Men. Ahh they're just awesome, that's why. It's funny how you listen to the same songs over and over again, then you get tired and don't listen to them for a while. Suddenly you listen to one song again and you're totally hooked for a while. That's what's practically happening with me right now; re-discovering "old" favorites.

CATCHING FIRE SOUNDTRACK

So the Catching Fire soundtrack was published a couple of weeks ago. I'm so excited to see the movie and gosh they've made some good band and song choices! Of course I haven't heard all of them yet, because not all of them are available yet (I think). But the ones so far, whoa! I'm so excited because there's some Coldplay, Christina Aguilera, Imagine Dragons, Mikky Ekko, Phantogram and so on and so on. You can find the soundtrack list on the Rolling Stones site for example. Here's some of them that I could find on youtube.

Sia ft. Weeknd & Diplo - Elastic Heart

Christina Aguilera - We remain

Coldplay - Atlas

The Lumineers - Gale Song (So lovely!)

And here's a song I just happened to find when listening to the songs above:

John Smith - Great Lakes

Bye bye to the too good to be true kind of love

My music obsession at the moment is Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros all over again. So good to listen to when you're studying. I even typed in the rhythm of the music yesterday. Haha. Here's some favorites, and of course Home is included ;)

40 Day Dream

Janglin

Man on Fire

Has everything gone back to zero?

I feel that good music will save this day for me. Here you have some of my favorites right now. I miss listening to Swedish music, so I usually do it by myself in my room. Nobody else except me and the other Finnish girls understands it so we don't play it that often for the others.

Veronica Maggio - Sergels torg (LINK)

Anna Kendrick - Cups (LINK)

ENVY - Am I Wrong (LINK)

Coldplay - Atlas (LINK)

Soundgarden - Halfway There (LINK)

Delorean - Destitute Time (LINK)

Mumford & Sons - Hopeless Wanderer (LINK)

Until The Ribbon Breaks - Pressure (LINK)

Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball (LINK)
By the way this is the first Miley song I've ever truly liked! Miley is so big here, even in one test we had her as an example of something.

Medina - Miss Decibel (LINK)

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 30

DAY 30: Your favorite song at this time last year

Så mitt sista 30 Day Music Challenge inlägg:

Min absolut favoritlåt hela förra sommaren var utan tvekan Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - Home. Älskade den då, älskar den nu.

EN: And then it was time to end this challenge! It was fun, even though a bit time consuming. So my last entry for the 30 Day Music Challenge:

My absolute favorite song last summer was without doubt Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - Home. I loved it then, I love it now.

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 29

DAY 29: A song from your childhood

EN: This one was relatively easy! I remember lots of artists that have played on repeat in our house when I was a child, among others for example Guns N' Roses (but because I've already abused this band in this challenge I chose another one), Black Sabbath, U2, Alanis Morisette and Sinéad O'Connor. I chose Sinéad O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U (Prince cover, 1990) because it is so beautiful.

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 28

DAY 28: A song that makes you feel guilty

EN: Hard to come up with a song that makesd me feel guilty. The closest I can come is Matisyahu ft. Akon - One Day, because the world will never be free from war and cruelty, everyone is not going to be ever accepted in our society and hate in all kinds of forms will always exist. The song is beautiful and I like its positive message, but it makes me feel ashamed of the "modern human" and the world we live in today.

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 27

DAY 27: A song that you wish you could play

EN: Considering I can't play any song on any kind of instrument, I have lots of songs I wish I could play. This one was between Coldplay - Fix You and Guns N' Roses - November Rain, but I uploaded the latter one since Slash's guitar solo is just simply amazing. Ranked as one of the best guitar solos and the best guitar player of all time he deserves this one.

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 26

DAY 26: A song that you can play with an instrument

Hmm. :D

EN: Well. This is awkward. I can't play any instruments, not even one. I wish I could play piano, guitar or saxophone, but no. The closest I've ever gotten to play an instrument is guitar on Guitar Hero, hehe. Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out was a song I liked to play, because it was fairly easy, with little changes between the buttons in a slower tempo. I wish I could have played Muse - Knights of Cydonia though...

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 25

DAY 25: A song that makes you laugh

EN: There isn't that many songs that you could really laugh to, but The Lonely Island ft. Michael Bolton - Jack Sparrow is a funny song (at least the last parts).

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 24

DAY 24: A song that you want to play at your funeral

EN: This one I haven't thought of that much, but I definitely don't want a boring "death song" playing at my funeral, but something that have made me happy and something that reflects myself a bit. Counting Crows - Holiday In Spain is a song I've always been happy to listen to and it has been a favorite for years. For me the song is about flying away somewhere new, trying your own wings out, discover love and sorrow, leave old stuff behind you, about restlessness and so on. The meaning of the song is probably something else for the artist, but I guess you can interpret it however you like.

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 23

DAY 23: A song that you want to play at your wedding

EN: I have known for years already what I want to play at my wedding if that day ever comes and it's the amazingly beautiful Etta James - At Last.

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 22

DAY 22: A song you listen to when you're sad

EN: The last times I've been really sad I've listened to Snow Patrol - New York for some reason. It is a good song anyways from a great band!

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 21

DAY 21: A song you listen to when you're happy

Of Leon - Sex On Fire.

EN: I do not have a happy song either. Most of the time it's something that is on my playlist that I get a good feeling about. But I can say that for some reason I get a good feeling when listening to Kings Of Leon - Sex On Fire.

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 20

DAY 20: A song that you listen to when you're angry

EN: I'm like never angry, but I remember this one time when I was and I listen to music and when Peter, Bjorn & John - Young Folks came on I instantly felt a little better.

30 DAY MUSIC CHALLENGE - DAY 19

DAY 19: A song from your favorite album

Favoritalbum?

There's lots of them, but Guns N' Roses debut album Appetite for Destruction that came out in 1987 is my favorite. There's lots of good songs on it and without this album the band wouldn't have become one of the greatest rock bands ever. Listed as one of the best albums in the world (62/500, Rolling Stone Music) and that it is the biggest-selling debutalbum of all time says a lot. Here's one of the songs from the album, Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine.
